Rail Map Online does not use analytics to track your use of the site.

Rail Map Online does not track any geolocation data (i.e. your location), or track which part of the map you're viewing.

Cookies

Rail Map Online does not use cookies, and does not use third party tracking cookies (for instance Google, Twitter).

Rail Map Online does use the Google Maps API to provide some of the maps, so when you look at an area the mapping imagery comes direct from Google using their software, and your browser will communicate with Google. Google may use cookies and tracking to monitor your map usage.

Extra security checks are handled by Cloudflare (the confirm you're a human check), and Cloudflare may also use cookies to monitor site access and security.

Some third party pages are linked from Rail Map Online pages, including X (Twitter), Mastodon, BlueSky, Ko-Fi and Google. These are simple links to those sites, with no tracking code or cookies. RailMapOnline does not have control over the content of the linked pages.

Email

If you get in touch with RailMapOnline by email or direct message us on social media or Ko-Fi, we won't use your contact details for marketing or pass it on to a third party. Your email might be shared with map contributors (specifically Chris Lowe for canal map feedback, and Thomas Werker-Werth for trolleybus feedback).

Security, Donations and Personal Details

Donations to help keep the site running are greatly appreciated, but I would never ask for a donation if it compromised your security.

All donations are initiated by the Ko-Fi app, and all payments are handled by Paypal. Only Paypal sees your payment details. None of your payment details or personal details are handled by RailMapOnline, or stored on the website or server. The only details I hold is a confirmation email from Paypal with the donation ammount, donating account name, and a contact email.
